ADHD assessment

Adult ADHD assessment

A structured assessment with a registered psychologist, entirely by video, for adults. One flat fee. No GP referral needed, and it starts with a free 15-minute consult.

What you get

  • A clinical interview: developmental, educational, occupational, and relational history
  • Standardised ADHD rating scales and measures
  • Review of available records and, with your consent, input from someone who knows you well
  • A feedback session to talk through the findings
  • A written report with the clinical formulation, diagnosis where supported, and recommendations

What it costs

$360, total. Every appointment, the measures, the feedback session, and the written report. It’s a private fee: Medicare doesn’t rebate standalone ADHD assessments for any psychologist. A $180 deposit confirms your booking; the $180 balance is due 48 hours before your assessment session.

How it runs

It starts with a free 15-minute consult by phone or video. No charge, no obligation: what you’re looking for, whether assessment is the right step, and your questions about cost and process.

The assessment itself is usually a single video session, occasionally a second where clinically necessary. Questionnaires are completed around it, and a feedback session follows where the report is handed over.

What the assessment is for

Diagnosis in psychology supports treatment. The report says what’s going on and what will help: therapy, adjustments at work or study, or referral on. If it isn’t ADHD, it says what better explains the difficulties, and that’s just as useful.

If medication is part of what you’re exploring, prescribing in NSW sits with psychiatrists and, as the state’s reforms roll out, with specially trained GPs. The report is written to be useful to whoever takes that step with you.

After the assessment

Therapy can continue at Ixencion, bulk billed with a valid referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.
